Before we jump into the whole of this topic, we want to make sure that you understand the importance of a “4-color” process. The 4 stands for “CMYK” which are the colors needed to achieve the highest quality print, they include: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (black). By manipulating the different color levels, images printed can be layered in a way that the best quality possible is retained from design to print. At our facility, we can print with the 4-color process and up to 4 additional colors or coatings for a total of 8 colors, so we have you covered there.

Let’s Talk Spot Color
This is another topic worth mentioning that is very useful when it comes to printing labels. Spot coloring is a unique way to more accurately control the color levels for a 4-color printing process. Think of it this way…when printing, the various 4-inks are going to mix, this can sometimes result in incorrect proportions of any given color getting printed. A spot color is a premixed and computer-controlled ink mixture that completely mitigates this very problem! This allows more expandability, offers a wider range of colors beyond what a 4-color process can offer, as well as brighter colors and the ability to match branded colors for every project.
